Publication I AM WHO I AM منهمینم
Sep 2024 -Stigmata Pulication, Reference Point London
Duration 60min
Accompanied by HEZEN’s Electronic Remix
Long-duration performance by Mahsa Salali, created to honor Ana Mendieta and all victims of gender-based violence. As part of the Art of Stigmata publication launch, the piece invited audience members to participate in a ritual act: placing flowers on the performer’s still, supine body until it was completely buried.
Over time, the performer’s form disappeared beneath the blossoms, becoming a silent, sculptural presence. Only the subtle sound of breathing betrayed the life hidden under the floral mound. While the audience continued socializing, seemingly forgetting the body, the work powerfully mirrored society's tendency to overlook the realities of gender- based violence. Both visceral and poetic, the piece was a poignant reminder of the fragility of life and the weight of complicity.
